Abstract: Experiential learning is an important instructional approach that contributes to the development of
students’ competencies and qualities. Therefore, organizing the teaching of the integrated subject
History and Geography under an experiential learning approach is necessary in the context of the
ongoing reform of Vietnam’s General Education Program. This paper investigates the current status
of organizing History and Geography teaching under an experiential learning approach in primary
schools in Ho Chi Minh City, and proposes several solutions to improve the effectiveness of teaching
this subject through experiential learning. Primary schools may refer to the research findings to select
appropriate solutions, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of organizing experiential activities in
History and Geography teaching in alignment with the requirements of the 2018 General Education
Program.
