Abstract: Islam was introduced in Mumias, Kenya, by Arab traders in the late 20th C. This introduction was
neither deliberate nor a coincidence, as these Arab traders were only on their caravan movement from
the coastal region of Kenya to Congo. At Mumias, their settlement would later become an admirable
legacy, as their imprints have been left all over Mumias region. They include academics, religion,
culture as well as politics. This article will thus highlight this perspective; where Islamic legacy is still
felt, while focusing on how they contributed to the growth and development of Mumias Boys Muslim
Secondary School as an Integrated Islamic school. |
