Abstract: This research investigates the correlation between the Big Five Personality Traits and secondary school
students' attitudes towards studying in Ota Metropolis, Ogun State, Nigeria. With the utilization of
correlational survey research design, this research assesses the influence of personality traits—
Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism—on students' study
behavior. Through the administration of a structured questionnaire, data were collected, and statistical
analysis was conducted with Pearson's Product Moment Correlation as well as multiple regression
tests. The results indicate that Conscientiousness is most positively correlated with good study habits,
and Neuroticism is negatively correlated with organized study behaviors. The research concludes that
personality traits are a strong predictor of students' study behaviors and offers suggestions for teachers
to provide learning interventions according to individual personality profiles. Additionally, the study
highlights the application of personality-based interventions in the educational system that help
students align learning approaches with personality.
