Abstract: This article analyzes the impact of the European Green Deal (EGD) on Vietnam's textile and garment
exports to the EU market. The study applies SWOT analysis to identify the strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and challenges of the Vietnamese textile and garment industry amid increasingly
stringent EU policies. The industry benefits from low labor costs and the advantages of the EVFTA,
while its weaknesses include a heavy reliance on imported raw materials and limited green technology
capabilities. The EGD (Environmental, Good, and Sustainable Development Goals) creates
opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to strengthen their position in the global value chain and shift
toward high-end, sustainable product segments; it also poses significant challenges from technical
barriers and increased compliance costs. The analysis shows that the green transition is essential to
maintaining and enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam's textile and garment industry in the EU
market. Based on that, the article also proposes several solutions to leverage strengths, seize
opportunities, and minimize risks for Vietnam's textile and garment industry in the new context. |
