Abstract: Student motivation is essential for academic engagement and achievement in higher education;
however, emotional and social factors are frequently neglected in course design. This study
investigates the influence of emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, and lecturer communication
patterns on student motivation, emphasizing the mediating role of communication. Data collected from
231 students using validated questionnaires indicate that all three factors significantly predict learning
motivation. Lecturer communication patterns exert the strongest influence, while emotional and
spiritual intelligence also have significant, albeit smaller, effects. These results highlight the primary
role of communication in motivating students and emphasize the importance of emotional and social
factors in enhancing motivation. The study recommends that lecturers develop both emotional and
communication competencies to create a more motivating learning environment. |
